Katia Papagianni is the Director for Policy and Mediation Support at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) Centre) in Geneva.
She specializes in the design of peace processes and, more specifically, in national dialogues and constitution-making processes. She has supported processes in Liberia, Nigeria, Somalia, Libya, Syria, Myanmar, Ukraine, Thailand and the Philippines. She was also seconded to the United Nations (UN) to support national dialogue efforts in Yemen in 2012 –2013.
Before joining the HD centre, she worked for the National Democratic Institute, the OSCE, the Office of the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, and for UNDP.
She holds a Master’s degree from Princeton University and a Doctorate in Political Science from Columbia University. She has taught at Geneva’s Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies and at Columbia University.
